Burgunderhof Merkel

Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

Burgunderhof Merkel in the village of Gundersheim is now run by the fourth generation of the Merkel family. Since 2016, Carmen Merkel has been at the helm and, together with her father Dietmar, wants “to combine tradition and modernism”. Their five hectares of up to 100-year-old vines have been farmed organically since 2004. Right next door to the winery they planted a round, snail-shaped vineyard where vines sprout beautifully towards the sun. We look forward to seeing what accents the new generation will set.
