Like hardly any other winery in the Kremstal region of Lower Austria, the Forstreiter winery succeeds in combining tradition and innovation. With Tabor, for example, the winery owns the oldest vineyard in Austria with Grüner Veltliner vines, and its winery has continually expanded for decades and is now one of the most modern wine production facilities in the region. Located in Hollenburg, the south-easternmost district of the white wine capital Krems, the organic vineyard has been family-owned since 1868 and, although it has grown from 28 to 54 hectares over the past decades, is still run as a family business in harmony with nature by the current winemaker Meinhard Forstreiter.
The main variety is Grüner Veltliner, but Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller as well as red wines from Zweigelt and St. Laurent are also vinified and successfully exported to 17 different countries. "We are proud to carry the 'Sustainably Produced Wine from Austria' certificate since 2019 and are pleased to be able to make an ecological, economic and social contribution."
